Legend In His Mind

Timothy's leery yeah

wo, wo, wo, wo, left out, looking in

Timothy's leery yeah

wo, wo, wo ,wo, left out, looking in

Doesn't trust John McCain

Who promises a better way

But leaves you cold post election day

Timothy's leery, Timothy's leery

Timothy's leery yeah

Wo, wo, wo, wo, left out, looking in

Timothy's leery yeah

Wo, wo, wo, wo, left out, looking in

Doesn't trust John McCain

Who promises a better way

But leaves you cold post election day

Timothy's leery, Timothy's leery

From coast to coast you'll hear him boast

Left or Right though he isn't very clear

He won't get a pass, instead I'll roast

The little man who hawks ideas he holds so dear

He'll talk you up, but bring you down

He'll plant your hopes six feet under ground

You have to sigh, he stoops so low

Who knows exactly where he's gonna go

Timothy's leery, Timothy's leery

He'll talk you up, but bring you down

He'll plant your hopes well underground

You'll wanna cry, he'll stoop so low

So Timothy's leery

Can you trust John McCain

Who'll take your hopes throw them away

He'll bring you down most everyday

Timothy's leery, Timothy's leery

Timothy's leery, Timothy's leery,

So Timothy's leery

So are all regan conservatives and libertarians

but what to do? I suppose if Ron Paul runs as an independent I might vote for him but I can' stand the thought of H or O winning. Is there a real option this election?

Leery

All kidding aside, at this point I have no idea what to do either. It's been said here and elsewhere that McCain is the least bad choice of the three, and I'll admit that's probably true. However, I'll maintain that unconditionally supporting him regardless of his policies would take the party in the wrong direction and cause permanent, or at least long term damage to the conservative movement.

Whether or not Rush Limbaugh can claim as much credit for the "chaos" going on in the Democrat primary as he has such an affinity for doing, he is right about one thing. Their party will be so divided after a long, bitter struggle that some of those supporting the losing  candidate will opt for McCain rather than endorsing the "enemy". In other words, I think he'll beat whoever is left of the Democrat contenders, simply because people will be so fed up with Hilbama. This is the only advantage whatsoever of McCain being a "liberal lite" that I can see.

If that's what actually happens, then you can write in Ron Paul even if he doen't run as an independent. At least that way you'll have a clear conscience. I don't think enough Republicans will resort to write ins to allow H/O to win the election, so you (we) should be safe.

At one time I actually argued that third party or write in candidates were just a waste of your vote. This current crop of contenders has certainly proven me wrong on that point. I now believe that you can only accept so much that you disagree with before just saying no. Whether the person you support has a snowball's chance or not, at least you won't be compromising your principles by just voting the party line, as is expected, or even demanded.

ROSS PEROT

What are your thoughts of why he dropped?

RP/RP

Um, this question could be interpreted seveal different ways. I'll go with the assumption that you either made a Freudian slip or that Ron Paul is considered by you to be the new Ross Perot. RP = RP, I can see it.

Paul is way too far out of the mainstream to ever be a legitimate Republican contender, IMO. The Republican party machine itself could never be comfortable with someone who espouses views that are easily more Libertarian than Republican. The thing is, maybe it's time to try another approach rather than the same old typical left/right, Democrat/Republican BS. Sometimes I really believe the two major parties are just playing the people like they are ping-pong balls anymore.

Unfortunately, as we all know, without a legitimate third party support system, Paul would never have a chance in a national election. Is the country fed up with the current mess enough to entertain the possibility of such? Not yet, but if things keep going the way they are, maybe at some point (hopefully soon) it will be.

Why did Ron Paul drop out? He didn't really, he's just going about things differently. Will it work? No. The sad fact of the matter is that there are far too few thinking people for him to have a chance. The vast majority of the voting public have been conditioned to the two party scam and don't want to put forth the mental effort required to actually vote for a real change. Too scary for them to do so, and thus scary for the future prospects of our country.

Ron Paul

Very much so. The "status quo" crowd doesn't seem to be able to react very well when things don't go exactly as planned. I haven't seen this anywhere else as of yet. I wonder if I will.
