Only Tim

He can say
where the truth goes
How the lie flows
only tim
And he can say
if your love blows
Is in it's death throws
only tim

He can say
why your dream dies
As your hope flies
only tim
And he can sort
out the political lies
or at least tries
only tim

He can say
when the liars meet
That lust might be
in their heart
And he can say
why the voter weeps
Because no one keeps
them at heart

No one keeps them at heart

He can say
if your love blows
Not as your heart chose
only tim
And he can say
where your money goes
While the economy slows
only tim

Who knows – only tim...
He knows – go ask tim

Dear Timmy

Since you seem to think you know it all, I thought I'd ask your opinion about a problem that's causing major turmoil in the family. Our son (who is 18) recently told us that he was gay! You can imagine the shock my wife and I are in upon hearing this. Anyway, what should we do? Our options seem to be to ignore the revelation, try to get him psychological help, or just accept the fact that he came out of the closet and not hide it from our friends. What do you think?

Dear Confused

Exactly what is the big deal here? You should be happy that your son is happy. I mean, I've heard of somber sourpusses before, but you certainly take the cake! Life is way too short to be serious all the time, so lighten up and let him enjoy himself. In fact, it sounds like you and your wife should try to be a little more gay on occasion. Since it seems likely that this will difficult for you two, I recommend watching a funny movie to help your mood enhancement. Two real side splitters are “Starship Troopers” and “An Inconvenient Truth”. Just be careful not to injure yourselves, because these comedies are so hilarious you may laugh till you puke.

Oh, and I wouldn't mention the fact that you've made him live in a closet for 18 years. What few friends you must have will just see you as the incredible cheapskates that you really are. Glad I could be of help.

Dear Timmy

An off the wall question for you. With all the wildfires burning across Kalifornia ATM and certainly many more across the west as the season passes, the budgets of the fire suppression agencies at the federal state, and local level are ever expanding. Do you believe there should be a spending limit in place somewhere or is fire suppression one of those essential government functions that can't effectively be limited? Any thoughts?

Thanks!

fire away

I just came out of my latest coma, so I apologize for not answering sooner.

There should be no limits on spending for fighting wildfires that endanger humans on the national level, just a sizeable dose of common sense. This in and of itself would reduce spending. Smokey Bear is your enemy, trust me.

If you build in areas that regularly burned off for thousands if not millions of years and then artificially suppress naturally occurring fires thus allowing dead undergrowth to accumulate to dangerous levels, then the probability of uncontrolable wildfires nears 100%. If you choose to build in rural areas, then a firebreak should be a mandatory part of your landscaping. It's rather foolish and foolhardy to claim you never saw it coming when these fires happen on a yearly basis when nature is allowed to run it's natural course.

On a related note, houses built in flood plains tend to flood, beachfront properties experience hurricanes, mudslides happen in hilly areas, and if you build a house on the railroad tracks it will experience catastrophic damage on a regular basis directly correlated to the local train schedule.

I do realize that all natural catastrophies can't be avoided, but the less bullets in the gun when playing Russian Roulette the better your chances of survival.

You're welcome.

Dear Timmy:

I think you should write an article about this. What do you think? Should Oklahomans be concerned?

rowdy Sooners

I think that is an excellent idea, and I will write a detailed article on it within a few days. Should Oklahomans be concerned? Shouldn't everybody?

Dear Timmy:

What is your opinion regarding the NAFTA superhighway? I must admit that I am worried about this, and think the public should be more informed on this matter.
The NAFTA superhighway is one of the reasons Oklahoma declared sovereignty. They DO NOT want this superhighway running through there.

toll road

I think the NAFTA superhighway is an excellent idea, as long as it's a toll road and doesn't have any entrance or exit ramps until it gets to Canada. As is, it seems only US residents are paying the toll.
